This week Year 4 went to the library. Braving the weather, they walked responsibly to Palatine Library. The experience was very enjoyable and for some of our children a new experience or certainly one they had not done in a while. Nowadays we don’t visit our local libraries as much as we used too even though they offer a wealth of activities, resources, community links as well as the glorious books. ‘A book is a gift you can open again and again’ Some of our children shared their own personal experiences of their trip to the library. Millie said that she enjoyed listening to the book ‘We are going on a Bear Hunt’ and then going on her own hunt around the library for books linked to art and also Year 4’s geography topics of earthquakes and rivers. Zara had fun talking to her friends about the books in the library, what everyone liked. Together they explored to find different books to read to each other. Libby enjoyed the going to the library part. Walking with all her friends and the anticipation of what would unfold. She really enjoyed seeing all the colourful Christmas decorations lighting up the November skies before being transported to another world in her book choice. What a brilliant day! |
