Last half term, year 3 investigated rocks and soils. As part of this, the children had to construct their own investigation on the absorbency of different types of rocks. The children used a pipette to squeeze a few drops on to different types of rocks like marble, granite and basalt.
The children, using their knowledge of sedimentary rocks, metamorphic rocks and igneous rocks decided how each rock type absorbed the water.
3S smashed it and they thoroughly enjoyed investigating this in science.
