Design and Technology is all about understanding the whole of cycle of creation from initial ideas, design, practising techniques, creation, developments and making a final product. The children in year 3 have been designing Christmas packaging over the last half term.
The children were pitched the design brief of designing and creating Christmas packaging to gift to somebody who may be spending the festive period alone.
The children worked hard to make their final products, however there was one key aspect missing! There was nothing to go inside them! The children used their previously learnt food technology skills from DT in year 2. They revisited and practised these skills whilst cooking flapjacks using cereals, melted butter and marshmallows. The children had a go at measuring the correct amount of butter, cutting the marshmallows, mixing, stirring, and ensuring they followed the correct hygiene measures.
The children can't wait to gift their packaging and gifts to people
