This week in English some of our year 3 children were studying the popular children's story, 'Peace at Last'. They have explored the different themes in the story, the different characters, settings and problems which Mr Bear faces throughout the book.
At the end of next week, the children will be writing a letter to Mrs Bear for her monstrously loud snoring and will retell the story of Mr Bear and what he had to put up with the night. To support their understanding, the children took part in 'hot seating'. One person became the moderator and another became Mr Bear, whilst the rest of the class formed and asked questions to ask Mr Bear. They completed this brilliantly!
The children can't wait to write these letter and explain to Mrs Bear how exhausted Mr Bear truly was! We will share these letters with you once they have been completed.
Mr Fleckney, their English teacher, said, "It was lovely to see the children ooze with confidence and encourage all other children to take part. They really excelled in questioning their peers, formulating a persona in character and developing the vocabulary being used"
